Transparency about our transparency.

Plain-language version first, formal version below. Last updated July 2026.

The short version

We publish good-faith models of brokerage economics, not guaranteed quotes. Every figure carries a confidence badge.
Fees vary by office, region, plan, and negotiation. Your offer letter beats our website. Always confirm in writing.
We respect every brokerage on this site and intend to disparage none. Rankings are math under stated assumptions — not judgments of quality, ethics, or culture.
Wrong number? We fix it fast — use the red report button or the brokerage intake. Corrections publish with dates.
Nothing here is financial, legal, tax, or career advice.

1 · Informational purposes only; no guarantees

All content on BrokerageCosts — including fee figures, splits, caps, rankings, calculators, simulators, matchups, city benchmarks, and knowledge-base entries — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only, on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we work to keep information accurate and current, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or timeliness of any information. Brokerage compensation structures change frequently, vary by region, office, franchise, plan, production level, and individual negotiation, and may differ materially from the models shown. Any reliance you place on this information is strictly at your own risk.

2 · Models, estimates, and confidence labels

Figures on this site are model outputs computed under clearly stated assumptions, not quotations or offers from any brokerage. Every brokerage entry carries a confidence label — Verified (supported by official or multiple corroborating sources), Reported (consistent industry sources; amounts may vary), or Modeled (an archetype or estimate) — and a "last reviewed" date. Where a specific figure is uncertain, we say so in the entry itself. Labels describe our evidence, not any brokerage's conduct. The only authoritative source for any brokerage's current fees is that brokerage's own written fee schedule and independent contractor agreement.

3 · Fairness & non-disparagement policy

This site exists to help agents understand economics — not to attack, disparage, or discredit any brokerage, franchise, office, or person. Every model on this site can be the right choice for the right agent, and our persona pages say exactly that. Rankings and "verdicts" are arithmetic under stated assumptions; a higher modeled cost is not a statement about a brokerage's quality, value, ethics, leadership, or culture, and should never be read as one. Editorial sections describing trade-offs ("fine print", "hidden costs") describe structural features common to compensation models generally, in the same terms we apply to every brokerage — including those our contributors are affiliated with. Statements of opinion are opinions held in good faith based on the disclosed sources; statements of fact are sourced, dated, and correctable.

4 · Corrections — fast, public, and dated

If any statement or figure about your brokerage is inaccurate, outdated, or unfairly framed, we want to know and we will act quickly: verified corrections are published promptly, logged on our Updates timeline with effective dates, and reflected across every calculator and ranking automatically. Brokerages may claim their profile and submit official schedules at no cost — official figures always replace our models. Agents and readers can flag any number via the report button on every page. Requests to review or remove specific statements can be sent through the same channels and will receive a substantive response.

5 · Trademarks & non-affiliation

All brokerage names, logos, and marks referenced on this site — including RE/MAX®, Keller Williams®, Century 21®, Coldwell Banker®, Sotheby's International Realty®, eXp Realty®, Real Broker, Royal LePage®, and all others — are trademarks of their respective owners, used solely for identification and nominative reference. BrokerageCosts is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any brokerage listed, except as expressly disclosed: the site is built by working real estate professionals, including agents affiliated with Real Broker, and referral relationships may exist with teams we introduce through the Get Matched service. That affiliation is disclosed wherever introductions are offered, and it does not alter the data: the same methodology, sources, and correction process apply to every brokerage equally — including our own.

6 · Not advice

Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, or career advice, and no content creates any advisory or fiduciary relationship. Stock and equity program information is historical observation, not a projection or recommendation; past share performance predicts nothing. Before joining, leaving, or negotiating with any brokerage, review the actual agreements and consider advice from qualified professionals licensed in your jurisdiction.

7 · Limitation of liability & general terms

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BrokerageCosts and its contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, this site or its information, including decisions made in reliance on models or rankings. Site content and datasets are proprietary (© BrokerageCosts, all rights reserved) and may not be reproduced or used to build competing comparison products without written permission; brief quotation with attribution is welcome. Submissions through our intake forms grant us permission to verify and, where confirmed, publish the underlying figures — never the submitter's identity without written consent. These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stands.

Questions, corrections, or concerns: use the report button on any page or the brokerage intake. We read everything.
